1. Why is the Sustainable Development Fee introduced by Bhutan?

The Sustainable Development Fee was introduced by the government as a fund that goes towards helping Bhutan maintain its carbon neutrality and promote sustainable tourism. The SDF will be channelled towards activities that offset carbon footprint and also develop tourism activities that help local communities thrive economically and create stable employment with fair wages and working conditions. 

2. What is the SDF fee and how much is it ?

The SDF is Government mandated Sustainable Development Fee (Tax) of US$ 100 per person per night stay applies to all tourists other than Indian visiting Bhutan and remain effective for four years till 31st August 2027.

We require a 10% non-refundable at the time of booking and a balance payment a month prior to guests’ arrival.

5. When is the best time to visit Bhutan?

Bhutan is a year-round destination. There is something special going on every season depending on what you are looking for. This view of the great Eastern Himalayan peaks during the winter months, to the variety of beautiful flowers & chirping birds during the spring season, the lushness or the greenness of summer, and the wonderful festivals and trekking opportunities during the autumn.

6. Is having a guide mandatory? Can you suggest a tour agent to seek assistance?

Yes, you do need to have a licensed tour guide to be allowed to travel within Bhutan. Your travel agent will arrange a guide for you. Should you require a travel agent please contact us and we can provide you a recommendation.

1. How can I make a reservation at your hotel?

2. What is the cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is as follows:
Cancellation after 60 days of arrival – 50% fee, 45 days of arrival – 75% fee, 30 days of arrival – 100% fee and No shows – 100% fee.

Zhiwaling Heritage offers a total of three categories: the highest being the Royal Raven Suite, which is a two-bedroom suite, followed by the one-bedroom suite. Additionally, there are 42 numbers of junior suites available.

Yes, we do have rooms for physically challenged guests.

1. What time is check-in and check-out?

The standard check-in and check-out time is at 12 noon . 

2. Is early check-in or late check-out possible?

Yes, early check-in or late check-out is possible as per the availability and with prior information to our Guest Relations team.

3. Is there a luggage storage service?

Yes, we do offer luggage storage services.

1. What amenities are included with my stay?

Shaving kits, Dental kits, Comb, Vanity Kits, Shower cap, sewing kits . 

2. Do you have a fitness center?

Yes, we do have fitness center available for our guests. 

3. Is Wi-Fi available, and is it complimentary?

Yes, we offer complimentary Wi-Fi with speeds of 100mbps.

Yes, upon guests request.

Yes, we do provide cribs for children.

6. Do you have an elevator?

Yes, we have an elevator in our main building. However, please note that our cottages do not have elevators.

Yes, we do have 2 conference halls: one with almost 80 sitting in theatre style and the bigger one with almost 150 sittings in theatre style.
